Assembling
a Proposal
Proposals require forms or cover pages to identify the
applicant institution and administrative information.
The information needed to complete these forms is available
from the Institutional Data link below. Contact Sponsored
Research Services if you have any questions about completing
a form or certification needed for a proposal.
Developing
a Budget
Budgets
are critical components of the proposal because they
provide insight into project management as well as defining
the amount of funding necessary to conduct the project.
Budgets are generally one of the review components and
can help or hinder the final outcome of your proposal
review.
Submitting a Proposal
To
ensure that federal and state guidelines are met and
that the intellectual and academic objectives of the
University are maintained, all proposals for external
funding must be reviewed at appropriate administrative
levels prior to submission.
Accepting
an Award
All
grants, contracts, and cooperative agreements awarded
to Indiana University are reviewed to make certain that
each agreement is supportive of IU's mission and that
the rights of the researchers are protected. Because
Indiana University (not the school, department, center,
or individual faculty member) is the legal entity for
all awards, there is a process for central review of
incoming awards to ensure that Indiana University can
accept any conditions imposed on the award.
Administering
an Award
After
an award is accepted by the University it is forwarded
to Contract and Grant Administration where an account
is established and administered. Please contact the
Contract and Grant Administration office with questions
regarding this information.
