    The following rates should be used in the preparation of proposal budgets for submission to external agencies for funding. Contact your Sponsored Research Services office if you have any questions.

  Mileage Rates
 
$0.485 per mile for the first 500 miles (effective January 1, 2007)
$0.24 per mile for 501-3,000 miles
Nothing for miles in excess of 3000
  Lodging and Per Diem Rates:
 
Indiana University reimburses lodging and Per Diem at the rates used by the federal government. Rates vary based on destination. When the city is unknown, it is suggested that you budget Per Diem at $64 for domestic travel to most large cities and $44 for Bloomington.
