The Notes section of the Notes & Attachments page allows you to enter one or more notes for a Protocol document. For each, you are also able to enter a topic and restrict the ability to view it. Notes are added using common line item functionality and may be added at any time regardless of status.

Field |
Description |
Created By |
The user name and the time and date the note was posted is set automatically by the system after clicking the add button. |
Updated By |
The user name and the time and date an existing note was last updated is automatically populated by the system upon save action. For the initial creation of the note, the system populates the same user name and date time stamp in both the Created By and Updated By fields. |
Note Topic |
Required. To briefly describe the note, click within the text box and type or paste to enter text. |
Note Text |
Required. Click within the text box (or press the tab key from the previous field) and type or paste to enter text. Click the add note icon to view/edit/paste text in a new browser window, then click the continue button to return to the text entry field in the document. |
Restricted? |
This allows you to indicate if the note is generally viewable (unchecked) or restricted to users with the right to view restricted notes. The note creator is always able to view the note even if not granted the right to view restricted notes. By default this is unchecked. Click within the checkbox to select the item. A check mark appears within the checkbox to indicate the item is selected. Click within the checkbox again to clear the mark and deselect the item. If you do not have authority to view restricted notes, you are not able to mark a note as restricted, so you will not be presented with the checkbox in the restricted column. |
Actions |
Required. Click the button to add the attachment as a numbered row in the table below. For more information about basic line item functionality, see “Common Line Item Operations” in Common E-Doc Operations. After modifying an existing note line, click the update view button to cause the display to reflect the changes you’ve made. |
After the Protocol document has been closed and reopened, any previously-entered notes are read-only and cannot be edited. |
