Project Modifications

Modifications to sponsored projects, either in the budget, project methodology, scope, or time period, may require approval from the funding agency. Agency guidelines, Sponsored Research Services, or Financial Management Support may be helpful in determining the changes that need prior approval by the funding agency.

Some federal agencies (e.g., National Science Foundation and National Institutes of Health) allow the University to approve most budgetary changes or time extensions without prior approval from the agency. Project directors should contact your contract and grant administrator, or Sponsored Research Services to determine if anticipated project changes will require agency approval.
