What
is a "Limited Submission"?
A program that restricts the number of proposals submitted
by an institution is considered limited. Agency guidelines
will state how many applications are allowed. Agencies
that impose a limited submission policy will refuse
to review any applications from an institution submitting
more than the number specified in the guidelines.
Therefore, complying with restrictions is crucial.
How does the
process work at IU?
Sponsored Research Services tracks the limited submission
programs and posts them to this web site. Individuals
interested in applying to a limited program should
submit an internal application following the instructions
on the program summary on this web site. If the number
of potential internal applicants exceeds program limits,
the Office of the Vice President for Research in Bloomington,
Research & Sponsored Programs office in Indianapolis,
and the Academic Affairs office on other campuses
coordinate an impartial, internal review to select
the most competitive proposals for submission to the
external funding agency.
